Echoes of the Court comes to the Oude Kerk Charlois in Rotterdam, a historic church that offers a contemplative setting for this musical journey. In this concert, Western and Ottoman court music meet in a refined dialogue, performed by the HarmonEast Ensemble in a distinctive instrumentation of ney, piano, percussion, viola and cello.
Through newly created arrangements, the program unfolds chronologically from the 17th to the 20th century, tracing a 350-year journey of cultural exchange between East and West. The music reveals how courtly traditions influenced one another across centuries, shaped by diplomacy, travel and artistic curiosity. Historical reflections woven into the concert place the repertoire within its wider cultural and historical context. Echoes of the Court invites the audience to experience music as a space of encounter, memory and connection.
