Echoes of the Court comes to the Maartenskerk in Hillegom, a venue whose historical character and acoustics form a natural setting for this program. In this concert, Western and Ottoman court music enter into a rich musical dialogue, performed by the HarmonEast Ensemble in a distinctive instrumentation of ney, piano, percussion, viola and cello.
Through newly created arrangements, the program unfolds chronologically from the 17th to the 20th century, tracing a 350-year journey of cultural exchange. The music reveals how courtly traditions from East and West have influenced and inspired one another across time. Historical reflections woven into the concert place the repertoire within its broader social, political and artistic context. Echoes of the Court invites the audience to experience music as a living dialogue, connecting centuries, cultures and shared histories.
