OBA Theater Amsterdam

Echoes of the Court comes to the OBA Oosterdok Theater, where music, history and cultural exchange meet in an intimate theatrical setting. In this concert, Western and Ottoman court music are brought into a vivid dialogue by the HarmonEast Ensemble, performed in a distinctive instrumentation of ney, piano, percussion, viola and cello.

Presented in newly created arrangements, the program unfolds chronologically from the 17th to the 20th century, tracing a 350-year journey through courtly musical traditions. Along the way, the music reveals how artistic ideas traveled across borders and how Eastern and Western courts influenced one another. Historical reflections woven into the performance provide context and deepen the listening experience. Echoes of the Court invites the audience to experience music as a living conversation between cultures, past and present.
